General Information School Hours Regular school hours are 8:00 AM to 2:30 PM Early Dismissal hours are 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM Delayed Opening hours are 10:00 AM to 2: 30 PM. Attendance Policy Students who arrive after 8:00 AM are considered tardy and should report to the main office for a late slip. If your child is going to be absent or late, it is very important that you notify the school. You may leave a message at any time (day or night) at 732-572-4100, extension 2097. We will celebrate those students who arrive on time with a certificate and public recognition. The Principal will request a conference with parents of children who have excessive lateness and absenteeism. When a student is leaving early a parent/guardian is required to sign the student out in the main office. If a student is going to be absent from school please call the Guidance Office (732-572-4100, extension 2097) as early as possible. The office needs to account for every student. Be sure to request homework at that time. Before and After School Programs The district offers before and after-school programs for Bartle and Irving Schools five days a week. Before-school runs from 7:00 - 8:00 AM. The after-school program runs from 2:30 - 6:00 PM. For more information about costs and to register, click here or contact the After School Program at 732-572-4100x7-2002. In addition, Bartle School offers a breakfast program to all students. Specifically, we offer: Cereals, bagels, rolls, and breakfast bars are available as well as milk and juice. The program is free to children who qualify for a free lunch, 30¢ for those on a reduced lunch program, and $1 for everyone else. Breakfast is available from 7:30-7:45 only. Please note there is no program on delayed opening days. Emergency Closings and Delayed Openings In case of snow, storms, flooding, heating malfunctions, etc., please remember it is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to listen to the weather and make the necessary arrangements for the child. In the event of an emergency, it may be necessary to dismiss students early. The Honeywell Alert System will be available to alert parents. BE SURE TO REGISTER WITH HONEYWELL AND KEEP INFORMATION UPDATED. For School Closings (all day): Listen to or Log on to: WCTC / 1450 AM WMGQ / 98.3 FM New Jersey 101.5 FM Announcements begin at 6:15 AM. Also, check the Highland Park Schools Website. For Delayed Openings (10:00): Check the above radio stations or websites. Send the child to the bus 2 hours later than usual time or send the child to school 2 hours later. For Early Dismissals (12:00 or sooner): Radio stations and websites above will make announcements Effort will be made to contact Irving and Bartle parents by phone (keep phone numbers current!) Buses will pick up children at time of early dismissal. Transportation Students should arrive at school no earlier than 7:45 AM and report to assigned areas in the school building. If you are driving your child to school drop off/pick up for Grades 4 & 5 is on Fifth Avenue. Grade 2 & 3 students should be dropped off on Mansfield. For the safety of the children students may not be dropped off on the dead-end street off Benner Street that leads to our staff parking lot. Arriving at Bartle All students should go immediately to their regular morning meeting place: grades 2 & 3 in the auditorium and grades 4 & 5 in the gymnasium. Dismissal Children in grade 2 will be dismissed by a paraprofessional through the double doors closest to the main office. Children in grade 3 will be dismissed by a paraprofessional or TA through the center double doors on Mansfield Street. Please be advised that unless we receive notification and specific instructions from a parent or guardian all walkers in grades 4 & 5 are allowed to leave on their own at the end of the school day. Students who are riding bicycles to school may lock them in the racks on the Fifth Avenue side of the building. All the rules of the road must be observed and helmets must be worn. PTO Information The Bartle School PTO is an independent voluntary non-profit organization that supports and enhances the education mission at Bartle School. The PTO organizes events, programs, and activities that promote educational goals, community involvement, and academic achievement. It is an integral voice in school projects, policy discussions, and curriculum issues. Some of our programs include: The assembly programs the book fair the tickets to RU Football, Nets and Devil's Games Mother's Day Plant Sale graduation awards,yearbooks and special activites for fifth graders Thanksgiving Food Drive new clothing distribution in December and the financial support provided for special activities and field trips for each grade level The PTO draws its success from the continuing involvement of parents and teachers.
